Beach Essentials

Hi y'all! Since summer is still in full swing and I'll be heading to the beach in a couple weeks I figured I'd post my beach essentials!
1) Obviously the very first essential is a good swim suit! I love j.crew bathing suits for many reasons but the very first reason is because the suits are very well made. I have a couple of their bathing suit tops and I wear all the time and surprisingly they're still in perfect condition. I adore this sea horse pattern and there's nothing more classic to me than navy and white. PLUS it's on sale which makes the suit that much better!
2) To me finding a good cover up for the beach is very difficult! I'm still on the hunt for one but I love this OndadeMar cover up. Something about the combination of the white fabric and the airy texture draws me in!
3) A bright beach bag is another major essential for me. The Lilly Pulitzer Shoreline tote is so ideal for the beach! There is a big pocket inside and the inside of the bag is lined so even if you get water or sand inside (which is inevitable) it cleans up nice and doesn't ruin the look of the bag. I'm obsessed with their Let's Cha Cha print and the bright colors always put me in a good mood!
4) Last but definitely not least is a stylish sandal to wear while lounging poolside. I love my original Navajo Jack Rogers but I'm too afraid to wear them to the beach or pool because I would hate to ruin the leather. That's where the Bahamas Navajo Jelly sandal comes in! The sandal comes in three different colors and you get the look of the traditional Jack Rogers Navajo sandal but since it's in jelly form it's totally acceptable to wear to the beach because the shoe can't get ruined by a little sand or water!

What are your beach essentials?

M.I.A.

I'M BACK! I was beyond busy these past couple of weeks. Between the end of school, trips, & previous commitments I just haven't had time to blog. Plus my computer was being worked on for about 2 weeks so that put a little hinder on things. Thankfully life has chilled out a little and I can't wait to get back to blogging a couple times a week!

Weekend Picks: Derby Days

I wish I could be in Louisville at Churchill Downs today for the Kentucky Derby but since I can't I thought it was only fitting for this week's Weekend Picks to be inspired by the Derby.
1) Whenever I think of the Kentucky Derby I think of big hats. Now I know some women go all out with linen, satin, and intricate hats but I prefer the sunhat. I love the look of a neutral colored sunhat with a big bright monogram on it (surprise surprise). Just like the hats that Marley Lilly made for Southern Weddings Magazine's article.
2)The drink of the Derby: the mint julep
3)The history behind the Derby is so interesting and they have so many traditions such as the garland of roses, the twin spires, etc.
4)First off I absolutely love Vineyard Vines t-shirts. Secondly this Derby shirt is the perfect way to remember this year's race.
May the best horse win!
